Four people in the passenger compartment of the car managed to get out of captivity and a few minutes later the vehicle was buried under a rock. The accident was caused by difficult local geological conditions, aggravated by recent heavy rains.

A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced of a use-of-force arrest on an armed robbery suspect in Hesperia earlier this week. The incident is currently under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department to determine if the use of force was justified and in accordance with department policy.
