In a private hospital in Culiacán, capital of Mexico's Sinaloa state, a shootout left four people dead, including a doctor, and an elusive Sinaloa Cartel boss known as "El R22".

There are different versions of what exactly happened. One of them is that two armed people showed up to pay the medical bill of a patient, O.S. who had been admitted days before with a gunshot wound to the head, which generated confusion with doctors at the clinic. According to another version, the two men had entered the hospital in the intent of killing the wounded patient.

What is definite is that the resulting shootout killed a doctor, O.E.M. (first pic), who was the father of two children.

In the corridors of the medical facility, the bodies of two of the hitmen - J.A. and E.I.R.M. - were left behind. E. was a shadowy regional boss of the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS), better known by the pseudonym "El R22". Very little information is known about him, but he apparently commanded great respect, and a wreath in the name of former prominent drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán was sent to his funeral.

As for O.S., he was reportedly sent to the nearby general hospital after the shootout, where he tried to steal a firearm from his police guard. In the resultant struggle, O. was shot in the abdomen, killing him
