A pilgrimage in the municipality of Llera in Tamaulipas ended in tragedy, when the driver of a truck, apparently due to a mechanical failure, ran over several people, one of whom died due to the impact, reported the State Public Security Secretariat.
Dozens of people participated in the religious event, who gathered this Saturday in the town of Zaragoza in that municipality. Everything was going smoothly, when suddenly a truck, which was participating in the pilgrimage, ran over four parishioners, including a minor.
Elements of the State Highway Support Guard arrived at the scene to assist the people who were run over right at the entrance of the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church in the community.
As a result of the accident, one person lost his life and the rest have different injuries after the accident in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood.
Highway Support personnel provided perimeter security during the relief actions carried out by paramedic personnel and the functions that are the responsibility of Forensic Services.
The Tamaulipas Public Security Secretariat reported that three people were injured, while the Security Spokesperson reported that six were injured.
"Six people were reported injured after being run over by a vehicle that had a mechanical failure," the Spokesperson reported on its social networks.
